Bend-AR 2019 Central Oregon Sufferfest
Explore the rugged terrain and scenic beauty that Central Oregon is famous for at the iconic
and longest running Adventure Race in Oregon. Bring your team and race through the night
and into the next day for up to 18-24 hours of brilliant adventure racing fun. We have two courses ready depending on the weather in Oct. Where will we take you this year?!?
What is POC racing? A new format that is exciting and potentially more adventurous than anything you've ever done.
Dates: Oct 13, start early. TBD
Host Location: Near Bend, Oregon.
Disciplines: Mountain biking, packrafting (flat and easy moving water), trekking, navigation, and likely some ropes.
POC Level: 5 Solid racing.
Course Open: as long as you want, POC style. We think it will be between 14-24 hours.
Team Format: Teams of any size. Solo racing would be ok on this one, but a PLB or tracker is reccommeded.
Staged Multisport AR: A classic AR style course with a potential gear drop. Good singletrack. Water management will be key. We'll likely be exploring some totally new areas and maybe some Wilderness (on foot), so there will be some terrain you never get to see in a commercial event.
Gear you'll need or want: All the classic AR gear, plus lights for night. Phone (waterproofed) for Orienteer passport. Food too. We'll provide maps and course notes, and technical hosting of the website etc.
Fee for waterproof maps/digital passport, there will be many detailed maps for this one. $40 pp. And yes you can buy the maps etc and not race. The race is free. We just won' give you the maps till the race day! Likely there will be some adddtional cost sharing for the transport to the start.
