Life might be a highway—but out here, it’s more like a crooked trail full of hero dirt, busted legs and sharp turns. And these riders? They’ve been charging it day and night 💥 But today, the ride winds down. It’s the final showdown, folks. All teams have until 9 PM to cross that finish line—so it’s time to saddle up and bring it home. After a massive trek from the top of the Butte, racers will dive into a wild maze of singletrack—twisty, fast, and just the kick of adrenaline they need to push through those last miles. Day 3 of Expedition Oregon - America's Toughest Race brought the grit, grit, and more grit. This leg of the race wasn’t just a physical test—it was a showdown of nerves, smarts, and raw focus. The day kicked off with a full-send leap off a cliff into a deep mountain pool—no room for hesitation. From there, racers had to pass a Lego-built brain teaser before clipping in to tackle some gnarly lead and top rope climbs. Once they were back on solid ground, it was time to steady their hands and aim BB guns at the RDs’ faces (don't worry, just the targets!). Then came the O-Course—a maze of canyons and cliffs that tested every ounce of route-finding skill. No mercy—just instinct and map work. And while racers were fighting through the chaos, the front of the pack was crossing the finish line: Bend local legend Max King took the win in the Soloist Division, and Canada’s own Team Disco Inferno blazed across the line first in the ARWS team category, Team @expedition_canada took 2nd and another Canadian beast, Ben Kwiatkowski took 2nd in the Soloist Division !! What a day for Canada!!! Yeehaw, what a day.

Day 2 of Expedition Oregon – America’s Toughest Race delivered a wild spread across the course. Some teams were up with the sun, putting in on the Crooked River for Stage 7, while others were still tackling the heart-pounding cliff jumps of Stage 6 at Steelhead Falls. As the day progressed, the field stretched out dramatically. The elite front-runners blazed through Stage 9’s Mountain Bike Orienteering and even knocked out the Stage 10 Folsom Prison Break Trek—a huge day by any standard. Meanwhile, mid-pack and back-of-the-pack teams were just wrapping up the grueling paddle across the reservoir, proving just how demanding and spread out this course is. As night fell, the top five teams lit up the darkness with headlamps, taking on another cliff jump and pedaling up into the next big challenge: the climb site and the BIG O Course.

Day 1: She Came Out Swingin' Well now… Day 1 of Expedition Oregon didn’t just knock on the door—it kicked it clean off the hinges. Some teams rode high in the saddle, while others got bucked clean off. The Do-Si-Do River leg on the Deschutes? That stretch chewed up boats, snapped paddles, and left egos bruised and waterlogged. We started the day easy—like a cowboy's stroll through town—with a mellow Warm-Up Ride. But it didn’t stay easy for long. The river got rowdy, the singletrack was as wild as a mustang, and Steelhead Falls offered a cliff jump worthy of a spaghetti western. Then came the dark zone—teams holing up before braving the canyon’s next chapter. Some racers caught a full night's shuteye. Others? Just a wink or two under the stars. Either way, Day 2 is ridin' hard and the race is back on. Now they’re deep in the Crooked River Canyon—Class III water winding through outlaw country. Legend says bandits used to hide here, and Hollywood came calling when they shot Wild Wild West in these very parts. The 2025 event saw teams from around the world battling it out across the rugged and beautiful NZ landscapes. As part of the Adventure Racing World Series, the race drew racers from over 15 countries, and rewarded the winners with a full entry into the Adventure Racing World Championships.

Nearly 350 mile long, with technical rock climbing, class V whitewater, miles of single-track, treks across remote lava fields, untracked wilderness, mind-breaking navigation, underground caves, and un-ending beauty. This is a perfect look at what is possible when the human spirit and teamwork come together. What seems impossible is realized. And the benefits the competitors reap last far past the finish line. For some it is the hardest thing they will ever accomplish, for others it is another building block on a great journey full of purposefully chosen challenges. Who will step up to the line in 2025?
